User interface BetMGM

Role Overview
As a UI designer for BetMGM, I enhanced wireframes for a notification center, loyalty program and registration flow, establishing a visual language for the experiences while maintaining brand presence.

I also contributed to the Design Systems squad to refine components, documentation, and manage changing palettes and typography. We refined components to optimize for accessibility and responsiveness.

Elsewhere I created a more branded experience for Borgata through color mapping, and I increased perception of speed by establishing rules for tap states.

LEARNINGS & FINAL THOUGHTS

Loyalty

Our goal was to overhaul the MGM loyalty program, which relied on plain visuals and text-heavy webpages. We aimed to make functionalities clearer, align it with our design system, enhance visuals, and create a points redemption store. Wireframes were developed by the UX and product manager, allowing me to focus on refining the user interface and interactions while they finalized functionality and targets. I determined iconography for the Loyalty section, emphasizing type hierarchy, placements, and strategic color usage for the dashboard. I streamlined tiers by balancing colors and icons, reducing visible text within closed accordions for improved clarity.

I iterated on the Rewards Store balance and mini cards, emphasizing data visualization for user progress toward earning rewards, and a redemption modal for bonuses.

Borgata

I brought Borgata into the BetMGM design system, focusing mostly on color updates due to development limits. The refinements touched welcome screens and core visuals like headers, footers, and CTAs.

I explored Borgata’s color palette by building out tints and shades, testing how they worked for accessibility and UI clarity. The core palette (purple, baby blue, hot pink, and golden orange) was refined to avoid conflicts with semantic colors and to improve visual hierarchy.

I refined the color variations to better align Borgata’s palette with the BetMGM system. For the home screen, I explored different directions — from 3D treatments to flat color — before landing on a textured vignette inspired by Borgata’s property for its strong visual appeal.

Message Center

I set out to modernize and align the Inbox with the existing design system while also improving visual design and optimizing the user experience. Collaboration began with finalized functionality and KPIs from the UX and product teams, which allowed me to run UI and interaction iterations in parallel.

The first iteration used wireframes in a card format, explored within the design system and alternative components. I studied competitor models and non-competitive notification centers to gauge user familiarity and inform early design decisions.

In the next iteration, I evolved the format to optimize information density while simplifying future feature integrations. Working with UX, product, and development teams, I refined the design through feedback and approval cycles, enhancing the promotions page hierarchy with clearer typography and grouped information.
